The key to social distancing working with Theatre2u is common sense and flexibility.
Theatre2u, its customers and artistes need to have confidence that guidelines will be followed and safety put before profit. As restrictions are eased there will still be an element of social distancing required and all parties must accept and respect this. It will not only keep everyone safe but it will also instil confidence in all that live entertainment can be enjoyed safely again.
The new 'Rule of 6' law being introduced from Monday 14 September does not affect events or performances organised by professional bodies following Covid-19 Secure guidelines.
The updated government guidance states the following;
"Businesses and venues following COVID-19 Secure guidelines can host larger groups..... Within this guidance there are no set limits on the numbers who can be involved in planned non-professional activity [e.g. audience members] taking place outside and/or in a Covid-secure venue..... Premises or locations which are COVID-19 Secure will be able to hold more than 30 people, subject to their own capacity limits, although any individual groups should not interact with anyone outside of the group they are attending the venue with"
This means we are still able to organise an event at your home or in your garden and there are no set limits to the numbers of people as long as there is room for groups/bubbles to remain socially distant from each other.
We would ask that members of the audience at all shows, large or small, respect the 2m social distancing space with the artiste. During the performance itself the recommended distance from the performer should be 3m. If this means your performance area is not big enough for a show then please think of a larger space or a different way of managing the space. For example, instead of a performance in a small room, the performance takes place on the patio with the audience sitting in the house with the garden doors open.
At the moment we would expect most performances to be outside in gardens or on drives where social distancing can be managed more easily. Garages can provide a good covered stage area with the audience siting on the drive. If it’s wet, you might want it the other way round! We don’t think any performance is impossible, we may just have to be imaginative about how we go about it!
We will ask for a photo of the performance space to be sent at the time of booking so that we can agree with you the safest way to manage the show, while providing you with the best show possible. A performance will not take place unless all parties (Theatre2u, artistes and customers) are happy and have agreed how the performance will be managed to keep everyone safe.
We will ask all artistes to be as self-sufficient as possible in respect of providing all their own equipment, food & drinks. We would ask that a toilet is made available for the artiste. This toilet should be cleaned before the artiste arrives and should only be used by the artiste while they are at a venue.
As we said at the start, common sense and flexibility will be the key and we will adapt to government guidelines or restrictions as they change.
